How It Works
- Through a proctoscope, the internal pile is identified
- A small volume of sclerosant solution is injected into the submucosal tissue at the base of the pile
- The solution causes controlled inflammation and eventual scarring
- Over 2 to 6 weeks, the pile shrinks
- Bleeding usually stops within days
What to Expect
During Procedure (5 to 10 minutes): positioning similar to rubber band ligation, injection is quick, mild discomfort during.
After: minimal discomfort, no downtime, return to work same day possible.
